What it is
The Hornet is McElroy’s industry-first, all-in-one tool for PPR-RCT outlet fusion, and it replaces the manual method with something more productive and more repeatable. The tool self-aligns on the center of the pipe, then a guided carriage drills the outlet hole and fuses the fitting without repositioning the machine, so the hole and the fitting stay on the same axis from start to finish.
A rack and pinion drive keeps the carriage motion smooth, quick-change drill and fitting adapters make the swap between cutting and fusing fast, and an integrated ratchet strap locks the tool onto a wide range of pipe sizes. Anodized aluminum wear surfaces resist corrosion, and three-position carriage locks hold everything in place, which matters because the Hornet fuses in any orientation, including overhead and vertical work in tight spaces.
It runs on existing McElroy socket heaters and fusion outlet adapters for PPR-RCT pipe, and the rental ships as a complete kit: drill and fitting adapters, ratchet straps, nut driver for the drill adapter, accessory case, and carrying case. For branches from 2″ to 6″, step up to the Hornet XL.

Power & Generator
The Hornet has no motor of its own. The heat comes from a standard McElroy socket heater, available in 110V and 230V versions, so any jobsite circuit or a small inverter generator runs it. Details are in our power and generator requirements guide.
Materials
The Hornet is a PPR-RCT tool. It fuses outlet fittings onto PPR-RCT mains using standard McElroy heaters and adapters.
